Apparently last night around 9:30 a fire broke out in the the historic Groton Inn on Main St. in Groton and went to four alarms.
The reports vary from "gutted" to "destroyed."
I'll be over there later today but by all accounts, the news is not good.
Destroyed is probably more like it.
The Inn was built in 1678. It was nearly a hundred years old by the the time of the Revolutionary War.
This is a very sad thing for our area.
